I feel like I've been neglecting you good people, and truth be told, there's a very good reason for it.

I started this blog with the intention of examining my own Neurocam experience, and while that has been quite a fun little ride, this became more than just that. I joined a community of like-minded and not-so-like-minded people who contributed to and shared a common interest in our favorite shady multi-national.

For that experience, I thank each and every person I conversed with regularly. You all brought fun and exciting viewpoints to something I found endlessly interesting and exciting.

I'd ask you one question though... if you could start over... if you could go back to that 1st week where you found out about the Cam, what would you have done differently in the time from then to now?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on that.

In other news, V for Vendetta is fantastic. An amazing adaptation of the original. Did they touch on everything? No, of course not. Is it flawed? No more than the original graphic novel, and even Moore admits to it's flaws. I think the movie gets around all of that, by being exactly what V claimed to be: an idea housed in a vessel. Great idea, great movie.

Also... for those who are interested, I really did have a confession to make. I am not Simon Blackmoore. Simon Blackmoore is a vehicle. Simon Blackmoore is a verb. Simon Blackmoore is a much cooler name than the one I was given...

An organization cannot support itself and will not progress, if those who run it care more about themselves than the organization.

The title of this post says it all... and, quite honestly, that's a shitty attitude to have towards ANYTHING in life. It's too bad that it is far too prevalent in our modern, global society.

There is no shame in admitting one's own faults and failures. We all must confront our own shortcomings at some point in our lives, before we are forced to come face to face with them. Accepting help from others is a necessary fact of life. We must remember that no one man can move a mountain, but a unified group can do that and so much more.

There is no motherfucking "I" in Neurocam, people. It doesn't belong to any of us.

There was once a dream that was Neurocam... would you destroy the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, the way some of you would destroy this dream, just because it's not yours to take home once the tour is over?

So, I'm back. A bit worse for wear, but back nonetheless.

I had a birthday the other day. I guess I'm old now. I don't really feel it, though I can't quite hang from the rafters and headbang as well as I could when I was younger... the neck and back get a bit sore after stressful activities in your later-twenties. So, when it happens to you, you can't say that ol' Simon didn't warn you whippersnappers.

My contact with Neurocam and related parties has slowed down in recent weeks, and that's probably more to do with myself than anything else. It certainly got a little hectic there for a little while though...

In any case, I hope everyone's holidays were nice. I also hope everyone had a bit of fun on New Years.

I was hanging from an i beam, rocking the fuck out, and headlining at one of the best clubs in Southeastern New England, while drinking a bottle of Veuve Clicquot and chilling with the best friends a guy could have... it was quite nice. ;)

This was recently posted to that directory:

It is Saturday, October 29th and it is snowing. Autumn basically didn't happen this year, and it's my favorite season in New England, so needless to say I'm a little bummed out. This has been an ongoing trend... I don't think we've had a proper Autumnal season for several years now. It went from hot and humid to rainy to chilly and rainy, and now... well, now here's winter with a bang.

The leaves haven't even turned and fallen from some of the trees yet!!!

I think it may be time to relocate the Mountain Base to a warmer climate...

2003 vs. 2004

Okay, before anyone says anything, I know that both of these are either unofficial versions or outright fakes of the NCI Org Chart, but I just think the differences are quite interesting between the two.

The first is a version that I believe was cleaned up by Wintermute (AU), and was from 2003. This one, as far as I know, was confirmed as bullshit:

This revision was found on Elstob's site... note the original version 2003, which was originally supplied to certain ops by Elstob/Iocus Severus, in the lower right hand corner. (In fact, if you look at the other pictures under that part of the site, you'll notice several of the documents given to Tript and Graham taped to the walls of the "Cage," including the slides) :

Notice the removal of Splint and Innocence, the "elevation" of Neurocam to sit as equal to NOX on the chart, and that fun little maze in the background. There's also several different spellings/versions of Nautonnier as well.

I wonder what the 2005 revision would look like, since it appears that NOX is no more within the structure. I love the date fnord too... do they do their re-org revisions every year on "23/5?"

Now, that said... I held off on posting a lot of stuff/my ponderings pertaining to this/these pages for a fairly long time, because I wasn't sure of the reception that this revelation would have in the larger part of the community, and I felt that it might be detrimental to the larger experience that others might be having if their image of I.S. was shattered and the shadowy mask was removed... but since the story has broken and it's out there for public consumption, well, you know me... I'm-a gonna write about it.

I wonder if the Tript/Graham "Y1 BBQ" had an NCI mission number assigned to it, and if all participants other than our two erstwhile heroes were sent emails from NCI requesting their participation in this little shindig. Maybe Shaun/Iocus/******** was also issued a similar assignment, perhaps from a liason to or the Nautionnier him/her/themselves...

Writers block

So, I'm going into the studio to record in a few weeks. Here's the problem... I was once a writing maniac, and that has tapered off in recent times. Long story short, I have 9 songs (well, technically 8... the ninth is a "hidden track" and well... it's only 3 words over and over again, and I already chose those) to write lyrics for, and all I have is the phrasings and a hook for a few of them. The songs were mostly named before I got involved in the project, and the titles aren't up for negotiation, so they have such a cold feeling to them as far as subject matter goes... and I think that taints my ability to come up with anything.

Blogging a bit more frequently here and at another blog have helped kick those creative juices into motion, but it's still pretty slow going. I just need to write... and keep writing and writing and writing. The more I think about it, I should just make this even tougher on myself and write a concept album.

So, anyway... I made some fresh pesto this weekend that turned out amazing. We harvested the last of our garden, and I combined a bunch of different basils to make a hella good pesto. I'm on my way to practice, but here's my dinner tonight:

A shrimp and pesto pizza (well, it's on a whole wheat tortilla) with red onion and herbed goat cheese. It's pretty damned tasty, if I do say so myself.

Holy shit, this is awesome.

I remember watching shit like this in school when I was a kid. I recall thinking they were pretty weird back then, and this really captures that whole feeling. The rap part absolutely slays me. :)

Also, for those out there who are cartoon freaks like me... Adult Swim is now streaming their new shows on Friday nights.

BTW, speaking of Adult Swim... if you like hip hop, the new Danger Mouse and MF Doom collaboration is way off the hinges. MF Doom has the sickest, old-school style delivery... and his lyrics harken back to a time way back when, before rap was horribly misogynistic, obsessed with "bling", and moronically "gangsta." It's worth checking out, and as it was produced with many samples from shows like Sealab 2021 and Aqua Teen Hunger Force, you can catch a taste at the Adult Swim website.

I hate Joss Whedon, but I love Firefly

Firefly was such an amazing show, and I'd like to take the time now to say how thoroughly awesome the movie Serenity is. If you like science-fiction at all, go see it. If you like entertaining scripts, go see it. If you like Westerns, go see it. If you like to see what a great cast that genuinely cares about their characters can do, go see it.

If you're on the fence due to the trailers, I can assure you that none of them does this film the justice it deserves.

The TV show is well worth the download, rental, NetFlix, or purchase as well. The storyline is great, the characters are loveable and believable, and it's probably one of the most refreshing reimaginings of the genre in a very long time.

The Fox network completely botched the series the first time around by showing the episodes out of order, and never airing the pilot, but thankfully it got the second shot it desperately deserved.

I quit cigarettes... again...

Ugh... so this past weekend was fun, but tiring. I took a bus down to NYC, and that was probably one of the worst mistakes I've ever made. We left before our scheduled departure time of 2:30, and didn't arrive at Port Authority until 8:30... that's right, I spent 6 hours on a stinky bus with no TV, limited A/C (it was humid and in the 70s on the way down), and a laptop with a battery life of 1 1/2 hours.

On top of that, I've got Ilsa and Helmut sitting in front of me blabbering on in German about how much they hate Americans the whole ride down. The bag under her seat (mine) must have shifted during transit, because she turned around at one point to give me a vicious stare before kicking the shit out of my bag and loudly blabbering to her husband/boyfriend/what-have-you about me. It was at this point in the trip where I leaned forward and pointed out that I was unaware of my bag being that far forward, and that politeness is respected in any country... especially when you're a visitor. She pretended that she couldn't speak English, until I politely pointed out that she'd been loudly translating the Globe for her boyfriend less than an hour ago, and I know that because I understand a little German. I got a half-hearted apology out of her and left it at that. My travelling companion seemed to get a kick out of that, even though I shut him up before he could really make them hate Americans... I figured the New Yorkers would do a fine job of that without us, if Boston hadn't already been responsible for her hatred, that is.

Anyway, we finally get into PA and storm off the bus. My friend lives on 53rd, so it was about a 10 block walk from there to his place. I'm wearing a green shirt, and apparently that was enough for a guy who I'd never met before to pick me out on the street. My friends and I hit the apartment, got changed, and got to the rotten stuff right away.

Most everything after that was a blur, although I do remember a feeling of total conciousness sometime around the time I finally passed out at 9ish the following morning. We journeyed all over the island, stopping longest at a place where somehow we managed to convince the owner to let us smoke, do what-have-you, and play poker upstairs. I think she was sweet on my friend, and she was certainly sweet to us... I didn't pay for a drink the entire time we were at the bar.

One thing I like about NYC, besides the "whenever we close, we close" idea that certain bars have, is the concept of the bodega. You can find just about anything you could want at 5am in these places... deli sandwiches, bagels with lox and whipped butter, vitamin water, blunts, papers, shit... you can even buy izm in some of them.

I would have liked to see a show somewhere on Saturday night, but my friends were decidedly under the weather for most of the day. I wasn't able to convince these fuckers to leave the flat for anything save food until 11pm. Then again, it was like the Great Deluge outside... rain, rain, rain all weekend.

Oh well, it was a gas, that's for sure.

I'm off to The City for the weekend, and I'm pretty jazzed about it. I haven't had an opportunity to chill in the Apple for far too long, and having the long weekend to do it up right should make for a very good time.

First off, I'd just like to say "well done" to Crispin Black, and give a hearty welcome to our new CEO, Ms. Harriet Moore.

I have a feeling that the tone of this blog will be taking a much different direction in the days and weeks to come. Over the last few months I've found myself approaching a place, like many before me, where I've amassed a large amount of information and any public figuring on the sum(s) of the parts might detract from others' experiences. Needless to say, there is plenty of information out there for those of you who wish to pursue certain angles... it seems there are plenty who choose not to.

It's not that I'm holding anything back by not publishing my findings, it's more that I don't know what good would come of it. I think more and more that this is a motivator for others as well. This experience has been a very personal one from the get-go... and it just keeps getting weirder and weirder the deeper I delve. Every piece of information, every piece of meta-information, every piece of disinformation... the pieces fit somewhere, but to bring a lot of it up would be rehashing a lot of all too old news... and, to be quite honest, with things starting up again, I'd like to see how the puzzle changes with the new information that is bound to surface in the weeks to come.

So, with that... a toast to all of you still with us, good luck to all of you beginning the application process, and here's to the future...

Who or what is (or, more accurately if I am to believe certain new information, ARE) the Nautionier/Naubinier/Nauion Er/Nautonnier/Navigator(s)?

What does Brussels have to do with it?

TIN FOIL HAT ALERT: You know, the Templars had a Nautonnier too... he was the Supreme Master and always took the name of John, apparently. A 19th Century French incarnation that was related to the Templars and supported by Napoleon ended up storing it's documents with a "research association in Brussles." I'm just musing on this connection, of course... but one or more people out there might be inclined to look a little more closely.

Here's something interesting regarding Nautonniers... I love the ubiquitous 23 connection too:

Hey, guess what? Neurocam's website went offline right around the same time in July of last year too. Graham points to 7/14/04 as the blackout date, but this post is dated 7/16/2004. Tript might be making mention of this in his 7/23/04 post. I can't seem to find a post where someone mentions when it went live again. Xade's blog doesn't make a mention of it as far as I could tell (ed - my bad, he mentions it here and possibly here.)

(edit - Graham makes mention that the Neurocam website is down as of 9/19/04 here, it's reemergence is immanent here, and that it had been relaunched on or around 9/24/04. The next mention I saw of the website was at 9/30/04 on Hamish's blog. BTW, Charlie's "1st appearance" is here at Hamish's blog. Maybe I should go ahead and enter my prediction in the Neuro-Live thread on the Neuroboards. Regardless, does this mean we should be expecting a mid to late September re-launch?)

Having just finished a staff meeting, again I have to wonder...

Is there a Facilities department that reclaims equiptment after a Neurocam layoff? Does Neurocam I.T. backup people's email and contacts, so that the parties involved might at least be able to inform people that their emails have changed? Is there a spin machine in place to handle the stockholders? Just what is Neurocam's stock symbol?

Do you think people mill around the water cooler faking that they are sad for these people, when in reality they are laughing hysterically on the inside because they still have their jobs?

Being a corporate drone myself, I just have to wonder. Do you think an action item on Charlie's list today is their mysterious and convenient lack of an online presence, the day after the CEO and several other executives tendered their resignation?

As has been noted, there've been some big changes over at www.neurocam.com. The disclaimer now reads one simple, elegant line: "Neurocam is not what you expect."

Duly noted, Bridget, but I miss that quote you had at the bottom. If you would indulge a lowly Operative, my suggestion would be to throw that back on there.

The registration requirements have changed again too. This would be the second change to them since I joined back in January. Now, recruits are required to submit the following in addition to what I was originally asked for:

First language and secondary languages, current occupation, a minimum of 300 words detailing what they have to offer Neurocam, and one image of their choice that they identify with.

Now I know the Cam had included as "essay portion" in their last revision, but I find it interesting that they ask about languages and occupations now.

Once again, I have to say I like that Neurocam is taking steps to be more selective. I like that people *have to* put forth an effort to get involved in this... this... whatever the hell it is we're all doing.

Oh, and Bob... a little cold for shorts this time of year, no?

Once more, all signs point to Melbourne being the epicenter, despite the information continually passed our way by Cam HQ. I often muse to myself, as I know many of us do, that there is so much more that we don't hear, read, or know about... people who don't blog for various reasons, or who don't even bother looking for other signs of life in the Camverse, and have no idea that there are some of us out here who chronicle our "adventures". There haven't been any new bloggers found in a while, but I also wonder if the initial experience has changed at all for those that join now.

Sometimes, I imagine a rundown Italian deli in East Boston, where masked weirdos gather to play baccarat and backgammon while drinking grappa or ouzo. They might laugh at the idea that we, the bloggers, are the front lines of the myth propagation. Afraid to post too much, for fear of some reprisal... afraid to cease posting, for fear of fading into obscurity. They might be discussing some obscure work of art by some man or woman who is now lost to time, though their work lives on. They might share a wink and a nod, whilst discussing their favorite species of monkey, or opening chess strategies, or why Diversionary Cortex Treatment works for them.

In the end, as has been said before, we must be patient. We are but footsoldiers, of and for the myth.

So, Votavova appreciates my intelligence and sense of irony. Apparently, I bring it "high quality" too. I gotta say that I dug the tone of the email...

Anyway, I'm moving right now, so all attempts to contact yours truly will be returned in due time. I have a few emails in the queue that are awaiting responses, and I assure you they will receive one. I apologize, but the timetable for my move was moved up, quite against my wishes.

I had an incident at my apartment this past weekend that involved my favorite guitar and a hostage situation. An ex-roommate who burned the house pretty bad (he skipped out with no notice, leaving us with an extra share to pay for May and unpaid utilities... this dude is in his 40s, I might add) came in looking for the cable modem that had been in his name, and instead of taking the bastard (which was in plain sight, mind you), he decided to ride off into the proverbial sunset with my baby, Moira (wrapped in nothing but a dirty towel). That's right, he was holding my guitar as ransom for a cable modem that he never asked for and I wasn't even using.

All I wanted to do was play my guitar when I got home, and to be honest, I felt raped. The mad bastard had made off with my baby, left no hint behind as to where she was or what he was doing with her. I knew it was him though... he'd been at the house on Tuesday (along with his best friend), when he took the cable box and a few assorted articles of clothing before busting through the cellar door and leaving broken bits of wood everywhere. I knew it was him, because this was just one more passive-aggressive act in a month's worth of pointed terrorism.

There's a back story to this tale, (before the jack move, that is) but I've hashed and rehashed it so many times offline that I see no real reason to enter into it again. The long and short of it is, I got my guitar back after getting a little what-have-you with one motherfucker in particular (his best friend), and then putting him in a do-or-die position to obtain my stolen six string. In short, I "made him an offer he couldn't refuse."

It's amazing what you can make happen when you explain someone's own culpability, and put it in the proper perspective. Social engineering is a wonderful skill to have at one's disposal...

heh heh. In any case, apparently good 'ol Neurocam is accepting applications "en Español," and replying in it as well. I doubt this is a new development, considering the popularity of the Spanish language and all, but hey... it's news to me.

So, I got an email from a recent, non-blogging recruit today... it seems like we have a new person to add to the corporate org. chart, a Mr. Miles Carrefour. Apparently, he has been (is) handling the application process for Ms. Zelle due to Neurocam's recent "internal restructuring."

Going from the email I was forwarded, our Mr. Carrefour seems like quite a gentleman and definitely on point with regards to what he has been tasked with.

I wonder if they have "Hawaiian Shirt Day" at HQ... or if they have a softball or soccer or cricket team... that would be awesome.

I wonder what the health plan is like, and if they offer stock options. Was Mr. Knight fully vested? Will his 401K rollover? Do they have an I.T. Department? Do they get spam in their Outlook inboxes? Is there overtime? Where is their receptionist?

Should I believe they are as weird, if not weirder, as any corporate entity that I have worked for?

Well, it seems that Hastings emailed JoJo on the 8th with the following missive:

I am in trouble. I think I am being investigated by Neurocam management. I am not sureif this account is secure anymore. If contacted by any members of staffcan you please *Snippity snip snip*

So, working from a timeline here, we've got Knight saying he's fairly sure that no one knows what he's up to on the 6th, Hastings quite aware on the 8th that someone's looking into him, Zelle showing up out of the blue on the 11th and 14th, Knight emailing Avery on the 16th regarding the "Judas" and a meeting with "senior management", Avery getting gonged on the 17th, and Fischer dropping the biggity-bomb about Knight on the 18th.

From Avery's blog, we also get some fun new Cam phrases to toss around: "Compound H67T", "Clouds without water", "Retinal Immersion Technique" and "Diversionary Cortex Treatment". Riiiiight... I'll just file those right along with "fabry crises", "Ruby Treaty", "Elemental Quadrants", and "F-class Halcyon units"...

Speaking of Alpha Galactosidase sluicing, I've always felt the following posts could use a little more discussion now that we have a few more people on board: Graham and Tript.

Also, Teigan's latest post raises some interesting questions about things that went on back in February.

Tell me something, Neurofriends... how often do you consider your own level of involvement and where you fit in within the larger picture of the Cam? Do you think we determine our own level of involvement? I guess we wait and see... as always, we're on Neurocam's timeline, not our own.
